Regular home cleaning, deep cleans, short-let turnovers and after-builders work — in English or Português.
A three-hour job does not survive forty minutes of travel each way, so coverage depends on your street rather than your municipality.
Somebody who already cleans two flats on your street can take a third. The same person forty minutes away cannot, at any price that would be fair to either of us. That is why we ask for the street and not just the area.
In the Baixa a city survey of 530 buildings found a lift in only 81 of them. Carrying equipment up six floors is part of the job in the old city and it is priced honestly rather than discovered halfway through.
Where the metro and the train reach — Amadora and Odivelas both got the metro in 2004, and the Linha de Cascais runs the whole way out — a regular clean is realistic. Where they do not, we say so rather than promise a slot nobody can keep.
Trams 12E and 28E share the same single track through Alfama, calling at Rua das Escolas Gerais, Largo das Portas do Sol, Miradouro de Santa Luzia, Limoeiro and Sé, so a parked van blocks both lines. Santa Apolónia, on Avenida Infante D. Henrique at the foot of Alfama, is both a Blue Line metro station and a CP station for the Sintra, Azambuja and Norte lines.
More on Alfama →Alvalade was built between 1945 and 1970 under Faria da Costa's urbanisation plan drawn up from 1938 to 1945, so its housing stock is post-war, not pre-war. Alvalade metro station on Praça de Alvalade (Green Line) has lifts both from platform to concourse and from concourse to street. EMEL splits Alvalade into paid-parking zones 03A to 03R; zone 03N is bounded by Avenida da Igreja, Avenida dos Estados Unidos da América, Avenida de Roma and Campo Grande. The blocks sit perpendicular to Alvalade's four traffic avenues: Avenida dos Estados Unidos da América, Avenida da Igreja, Avenida do Rio de Janeiro and Avenida de Roma.
An EMEL loading and unloading permit for the historic quarters runs for one year and only allows entry on weekdays between 08:00 and 20:00, for a maximum of two hours at a time. Carris route 51E is the replacement service for the Glória funicular, running Glória-Restauradores, Rossio, Rua do Ouro, Largo do Carmo-Santa Justa and Largo Trindade Coelho.
A city survey of 530 buildings in the Baixa Pombalina found a lift had been fitted in only 81 of them; six floors is the commonest height and 161 buildings have five. Terreiro do Paço metro station on the Blue Line has its entrance at Cais da Alfândega and shares the site with the Transtejo ferry to Barreiro.
The parish of Belém, the westernmost in Lisbon, was created in 2012 by merging Santa Maria de Belém with São Francisco Xavier. From about 1954 the single-family houses planned for Restelo were almost entirely replaced by bands of multi-family apartment blocks. Belém has its own ferry terminal to Trafaria and Porto Brandão, open 06:30-22:00 on weekdays, with direct interchange to Carris buses and trams and to CP's Cascais line. Tram 15E runs along the Belém waterfront with stops at Belém (Museu Coches), Mosteiro Jerónimos and Centro Cultural Belém.
Benfica and São Domingos de Benfica have been separate parishes since the 1959 administrative reorganisation split the old parish in two, so the addresses do not overlap. The parish covers about 8.03 km2, and two thirds of the Monsanto forest park falls inside it. Bairro da Boavista in Benfica dates from 1939 and is the city's oldest municipal estate, with 265 council buildings and 1,341 dwellings. Paid on-street parking only reached Benfica on 29 July 2019, with zones 09C and 09F between Rua Mte. Lima de Freitas and Avenida Colégio Militar in the north, Avenida Eusébio Ferreira in the east and Rua Professor José Sebastião e Silva in the south.
The plan opened eight streets crossing into 25 blocks on an orthogonal grid; Rua Ferreira Borges is 20 metres wide (10 m carriageway, two 5 m pavements) and the other streets 15 metres. Towards Rua Maria Pia the grid runs into steep slopes down to the Vale de Alcântara, bridged by a staircase from Rua Pereira e Sousa. The neighbourhood market opened in April 1934 and takes up a whole block between Rua Francisco Metrass, Rua Tenente Ferreira Durão and Rua Coelho da Rocha. Tram 28E terminates in the neighbourhood at Campo Ourique (Prazeres), with a stop at Igreja Sto. Condestável.
The Carris funicular between Rua dos Lagares and the Graça viewpoint takes only 14 passengers per trip and runs from 07:00 to a last departure at 20:45. Trams 12E and 28E stop at Voz Operário in Graça and then descend the Calçada de São Vicente towards Alfama.
EPAL supplies water directly only to addresses inside the city of Lisbon; outside the municipality the supplier is the local SMAS or another area utility.
Expo'98 rebuilt about 340 hectares along five kilometres of riverfront that previously held the SACOR refinery at Cabo Ruivo, a slaughterhouse and rubbish tips, so the whole district is post-1995 construction. Utilities run through a 6.5 km walkable technical gallery, 3.05 m high by 4.25 m wide, under Avenida D. João II and Alameda dos Oceanos, holding about 390 km of telecom, heating and cooling, water, electricity and waste networks. Household waste goes into a pneumatic ENVAC system instead of street bins; when a central station is out of service the council puts out temporary surface containers. Gare do Oriente opened on 19 May 1998 and has 34 escalators and 21 lifts.
Algés is not on EPAL: water supply and sewerage are run by SIMAS, the utility shared by the Oeiras and Amadora councils. On the CP Cascais line the all-stops train runs Algés to Cais do Sodré in eleven minutes, calling only at Belém, Alcântara-Mar and Santos. Paid street parking in Algés is a Parques Tejo limited-duration zone (ZEDL), one of eleven such zones in the Oeiras municipality. Mercado de Algés at Rua General Humberto Delgado 19 closes at 13:30 on weekdays and 14:00 on Saturdays.
More on Algés →Tap water in Carcavelos comes from Águas de Cascais, whose network across the municipality is about 1,411 km long. On the CP Cascais line Carcavelos station is 27 minutes from Cais do Sodré and 13 minutes from Cascais. Cascais municipality has twenty lettered controlled parking zones, A to T; in thirteen of them charging runs 08:00-20:00, Monday to Saturday. The council's Nova SBE campus scheme by Carcavelos beach covers an 83,000 m2 site with buildings of at most three floors and 562 underground parking spaces.
Access to the historic centre is permanently controlled: only vehicles authorised by Cascais Próxima may enter, and vehicles over 3,500 kg are banned except on Av. Valbom. The all-stops train from Cascais to Cais do Sodré takes 40 minutes and calls at fifteen intermediate stations along the coast.
More on Cascais →Estoril tap water comes from Águas de Cascais, which in 2017 bought about 90.6% of its water from EPAL and captured 9.1% inside the municipality. Four Cascais-line stations serve the area two minutes apart — Monte Estoril, Estoril, São João do Estoril and São Pedro do Estoril — with Estoril 36 minutes from Cais do Sodré and four from Cascais. Cascais residents with an active Cartão Viver Cascais get 180 free parking minutes a day in limited-duration zones, but not on the Eixos Vermelhos.
Water and sewerage in Oeiras are handled by SIMAS Oeiras e Amadora, so meters, leaks and connections are not an EPAL matter. The Oeiras resident parking permit is fully digital: no card or windscreen sticker is issued, the number plate is registered in the Parques Tejo system. On the CP Cascais line Oeiras station is 24 minutes from Cais do Sodré and 16 minutes from Cascais. The Palácio Marquês de Pombal on Largo Marquês de Pombal, by the architect Carlos Mardel, was classified a national monument in 1953.
Amadora's public water supply and sanitation are provided by SIMAS, the intermunicipal service shared with Oeiras. The Blue metro line reached Amadora in May 2004 with Alfornelos and Amadora Este, and was extended to Reboleira in April 2016.
Santo António dos Cavaleiros, Camarate, Moscavide and Portela are dominated by multi-storey blocks of flats, while São João da Talha, Santa Iria da Azóia and Bobadela are mainly single-family houses.
Odivelas and Senhor Roubado metro stations opened in March 2004 with the Yellow Line extension from Campo Grande.
Queluz-Belas is the local stop on CP's Sintra line, one station out from Amadora, with Monte Abraão next towards Sintra.
Water and sewerage in Sintra are run by the municipal utility SMAS de Sintra, which takes public-road fault reports free of charge on 800 204 781. Sintra's housing stock is older than the national average (ageing index 176%), and the council names Mira Sintra, São Pedro de Sintra and Sintra itself among the areas with the most aged buildings. Sintra is the terminus of CP's Sintra line; towards Lisbon the next stations are Portela and Algueirão.
Water and wastewater in Almada are run by the municipal utility SMAS de Almada, serving about 177,000 residents. Of the 1,201 buildings in the Costa da Caparica rehabilitation area only 9.4% have a lift; 45.3% are two-storey and 28.6% single-storey. The Boca do Vento panoramic lift at Largo da Boca do Vento bridges a 50-metre drop between Almada's historic centre and the riverside Jardim do Rio. Almada's paid parking is tiered by colour — green 0.40 euro/hour, yellow 0.60, red 0.80 — and a resident permit covers the holder's own zone plus one adjoining zone.
Barreiro has no SMAS either: the municipality itself is the water utility, through the Câmara's Divisão de Águas e Saneamento. The Barreiro ferry lands at Terreiro do Paço, not at Cais do Sodré where the Cacilhas, Seixal and Montijo boats arrive. Barreiro is the northern terminus of CP's Linha do Sado, which runs inland via Lavradio and Pinhal Novo to Praias do Sado-A and never crosses to Lisbon. That core mixes religious and civil buildings of the 16th, 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries, and the municipality describes the stock as very old and degrading at an accelerating rate.
Seixal has no SMAS: the municipality manages the water cycle itself, and all public supply water is groundwater from the Setúbal Peninsula aquifer. Seixal has its own Tagus ferry terminal, with the Seixal to Cais do Sodré crossing one of only six Transtejo routes. Three consecutive Fertagus stations serve Seixal — Corroios, Foros de Amora and Fogueteiro — between Pragal and Coina.
Since 18 December 2022 the reactivated municipal utility SMS has been responsible for water supply, sanitation and waste in Setúbal. In the 2021 census 3,364 buildings in central Setúbal, 42.0% of the total, were recorded as needing repair. Setúbal is the southern terminus of the Fertagus line, the direct rail link over the Ponte 25 de Abril to Roma-Areeiro in Lisbon. The Mercado do Livramento at Avenida Luísa Todi 163 opens 07:30-14:00, closes on Mondays, and has free public parking in its immediate surroundings.
Tell us the street and you get an honest answer the same day. Cleaning depends on routes, so the answer is genuinely street by street rather than area by area.
Because a three-hour job cannot absorb forty minutes of travel each way. If somebody is already working nearby, your slot is easy; if not, it may not be worth it for either side and we would rather say that.
Almada, Seixal, Barreiro and Setubal, yes, and from the south bank itself so nobody is crossing the bridge for a morning. Coverage there is thinner than in the city, so the honest answer depends on the week.
Common here — in the Baixa only 81 of 530 surveyed buildings have one. It does not stop the job, it just needs saying up front so the time on site is realistic and the price does not move afterwards.
That is a scheduling question more than a cleaning one. Tell us the checkout and check-in times with the address, and we will say honestly whether that window is coverable in your area.
For a one-off, a few days is usually enough. For a regular slot it is worth more notice, because a recurring clean has to fit an existing route rather than start a new one.
Street, size of the place and how often. That is enough to say whether it is coverable and what it costs.
Tell us the street and what needs cleaning. You get an honest answer today.
